Everybody knows the benefits of having facelift surgery. These treatments could erase years of wear and tear on our face bringing back that healthy and youthful glow on our skin. If done right it could make us look younger improving our self confidence. A short history of facelift surgery Contrary to what most people believe, facelift isn’t a product of today’s medical science. In fact, the first documented facelift procedure was done in 1901. Dr. Eugen Hollander is credited with performing the first facelift surgery in 1901. Dr. Hollander described in his journal a medical procedure in which he treated the patient’s face to achieve a younger and a more youthful appearance. This is the same concept behind modern facelift procedures being performed today. Nevertheless, Dr. Hollander’s procedure yield only temporary results and only tightened the top layer of the skin. Several enhancements and revisions to Dr. Hollander’s facelift technique paved the way for modern facelift procedures. How are facelift surgeries done, how is it performed? Basically, a facelift procedure is done by lifting and tightening skin areas to achieve a younger look. Needless to say, Dr. Hollander’s basic principles have remained true till today. In modern facelift surgery, incisions [...]

All types of surgery have their own share of side effects and medical complications. This is not lost to people who undergo neck lift treatments but the incidence of complications is not as great as its counterparts. Much of the side effects and dangers could be attributed to the various neck lift incisions done during treatment. People who undergo neck lift procedures may experience some swelling and tenderness in the area but usually disappear a few days after surgery. Pain medications and anti-inflammatory drugs may be prescribed depending on the severity. Other side effects include skin tightening due to tissue swelling. Prolonged skin tightening can also be attributed to skin being pulled too tightly or improper stitching. Neck lift incisions may also be a cause for infection during and after surgery. But most of the infections seen in people who have undergone surgery is not caused during surgery but is a result of exposure after treatment. Improperly kept bandages or being unable to keep the wounds dry after surgery is the leading cause of infections. The neck is highly vascular and contains many nerves which may be damaged during surgery. Pain and numbness are the two immediate side effects which [...]

The face takes most of the damages of aging. It is the first areas where lines and wrinkles appear making it an important area to target when helping people look younger and healthier. The brows and forehead are often plagued by fine lines making people appear older than they really are. Deep lines develop over the brow area due to years of exposure to the elements such as the sun or powerful emotions. Brow lift surgeries treat these conditions by removing excess skin and stretching it to remove the folds and lines in the brow area. There are basically three types of brow lifts, the Hairline, Endoscopic and Coronal procedure. The Hairline procedure is done when the patient has a high forehead. The incision is done directly under the hair growth area. Scarring is more noticeable since there is little hair which covers the forehead area. In the Coronal brow lift, excess skin is removed from ear to ear at the hairline. The remainder of the skin is then attached to the forehead. Muscles are also loosened in the area to relax and reduce tension. Minimal scarring is visible as all the cuts are made behind the ear and tucked [...]

We often end up following something just because popular opinion says it so. This is often holds true but some of the time this is mostly hype not fact. Cosmetic facelift has had its share of the limelight with many swearing by the effectiveness of facelift results. But before you go to your nearest clinic for a quick fix, let us first take a look at some of the common misconceptions about facelifts and see the science behind them. Facelift Results can remove all Acne Scarring Facelifts are not miracle cures that can remove all the impurities and blemishes from your face. Facelift procedures tighten the skin to bring a younger look but do little in terms of reducing acne scarring or sun spots. These imperfections are treated with other cosmetic procedures and not by cosmetic facelifts. Thread lifts are as good as cosmetic facelifts Thread lifts require no surgery and could be performed in a matter of hours. These procedures use “threads” to pull the skin to achieve a younger look. Thread lifts may give instant results similar to facelifts but these are temporary and considerable more expensive compared to cosmetic facelifts. Changes seen after treatment also pale in [...]

Facial rejuvenation is sought by many to counter the aging process which is inevitable to us all. The skin loses its elasticity, the skin thickens and sags, tiny wrinkles appear and bags develop under the eyes. What many see as aging and inevitable, others see as a reason to seek help. There are alternatives to help you look young again and it will take more than a jar of eye cream. Pharmaceutical products are the worst spent money possible. Here is a list of 4 of the most common issues that cause millions of people to seek facial rejuvenation treatment. Bags under eyes – According to the Sinai Hospital, there is a growing number of 20 and 30 year olds who have bags under their eyes and they have nothing to do with the aging process. Lack of sleep is not always the answer either. According to the experts, “There is a certain amount of fat naturally in the under-eye area,” Antell says. “It’s held in place by ligaments. As you age, the ligaments get weaker, allowing the fat to push forward, forming that little puffy pillow under your eye.” Sometimes it may be hereditary. So many who are tired [...]

Surgical facelifts are both dangerous and expensive. They may cause complications, side effects and yes sometimes death. Going under the knife to beautify the skin is scary for most, so they may opt for natural alternatives, such as thread lifts. If you have ever seen a video showing how they take a barbed needle all over the face, you may think twice about that alternative also. Facelift exercises are natural and they are healthy and they are a way to get back that youthful appearance once more. The wonderful thing about facelift exercises is that it can be done in the ease of your home, during the commute to work or in a comfortable chair or bed to relax in. If done properly they can prevent wrinkles, get rid of double chins and take away wrinkles around the eyes. There are no needles, no pain and no side effects Most of these types of exercises are aimed at correcting the oval of the face (or creating that oval shape). Although some take a few minutes out of your day every day, many women see a difference in as little as one week. For maximum results, you should do facelift exercises [...]

The FDA has sent out 7 warning letters to 6 US medical spas (cosmetic medical businesses that operate under the supervision of a licensed health care professional) and one in Brazil. The letters were issued due to the spas issuing false and misleading statements on their websites about Lipodissolve. Lipodissolve is also known as lipozap, lipotherapy, mesotherapy and/or injection lipolysis. Lipodissolve is a procedure where the patient has a series of injections using a cocktail of supplements with the intent of eliminating the fat in the body. It is often used as an alternative to facelifts or liposuction. According to the FDA, “these Lipodissolve products include statements that they eliminate unwanted fat, have an outstanding safety record, and are superior to other fat loss procedures. Some medical spas also claim that Lipodissolve products can treat medical conditions, such as male breast enlargement, benign fatty growths, and surgical deformities.” There is no current proof that these statements are correct. The FDA has not approved any drug used in this cocktail which may include: phosphatidylcholine (PC), deoxycholate (DC) and pentoxifylline, lidocaine, aminophylline, calcitonin, isoproterenol, caffeine, vitamins, minerals, and herbal extracts. Not all Lipodissolve cocktails are the same and may have some undocumented [...]

If you are curious about how to get a facelift without surgery, then you are probably interested in reducing the cost of a typical facelift as well as enjoying the benefits of facelift without surgery. Face lift with threads is costly and results may vary. A non surgical face lift, on the other hand, may significantly improve the appearance of the skin, minus the high cost and recovery time. Several options include crf face lift, life-style lift as well as other non surgical face lifts. Crf face lift Another term for this particular type of face lift without surgery is Thermage. This natural facelift system has become popular for both men and women, as an excellent anti-aging treatment. The Thermage face lift involves heat to stimulate collagen growth. It is performed by plastic surgeons and dermatologists. CRF stands for capacitative radiofrequency treatment, the method used to apply heat and tighten skin. Face creams If you are looking for a face lift cream, more options have become available on the market. For those who are unable to afford or simply prefer not to proceed with non surgical facelifts, a cream may be a good option. Some patient’s have very thin skin [...]

In terms of maintaining a youthful appearance, collagen is perhaps the most important substance our body secretes. We can help stimulate its production and maintain what already exists by controlling what our skin is exposed to. Preserving collagen is one of the keys to keeping you skin looking young and healthy. But collagen has many other functions within the body as well. What is Collagen? Collagen is a fibrous protein. It is a key factor in connecting and supporting various bodily tissues, such as skin, bone, muscles, cartilage and tendons. Collagen even has a presence in our teeth. There are more than twenty-five different kinds of collagen required for our bodies to function properly. We are most familiar with collagen in relation to our skin. Collagen and aging As we age, our ability to produce collagen is hindered. Our biggest concern with this hindrance is not the many life-changing diseases that can be caused from it, such as brittle bone disease, but with wrinkles. Perhaps because this is the most aesthetic, most visible, result of slowed collagen production, we are more concerned with finding ways to help increase this production rate. Hence, the marketing of collagen injections and creams. Collagen [...]
