Some cosmetic surgeons also encourage their patients to sleep while the facelift procedure is being performed. Patients are often required to spend a full day or two in the hospital order for the doctors to monitor the effects of the facelift.
First week after the surgery
A day after the facelift procedure, you can expect some bruising and swelling on the skin area where the facelift is performed. Nevertheless, the first week will show several signs of recovery. The bruising and swelling will subside and you’ll now be permitted to take a bath or to shower. Some of the bandages will be removed during the first week while the stitches will either be removed or dissolved.

Two weeks after the facelift procedure, you can now expect better mobility. Much of the bruising and swelling is now gone and you are now permitted to perform even light exercises. Likewise, discolorations of the skin will start to diminish during the second week after the surgery.
Three-five weeks after the surgery
Full recovery is expected to be achieved three-five weeks after the facelift procedure. During this time, the complications such as the bruising and swelling are already in existence while much of the discoloration is gone already.
Numbness may, however, continue up to months after the procedure but it isn’t considered serious and is deemed normal. Some of the complications that you should be wary of include hematoma or excessive bleeding, infection and temporary neurological dysfunction. In addition to the said complications, some patients may also suffer from a widened and thick scar.
